You could draw a line from OK to WI and end up in four states which form the spectrum:

Republican — Conservative — Democratic — Liberal

Which sort of reflects the giant political shift of my lifetime, which the GOP now more reactionary than conservative and the self-aware progressives much more liberal than the Democratic party machinery.
