I was never bothered by Tebow’s piety. I was bothered by the idea that Tebow being pious meant he was a good football player and person. FWIW I don’t think Tebow’s a bad guy but he’s no saint either.

Nailed it. His piety was appropriated by the charlatans who wanted to use him as a stick to beat liberals with.
