One mini-thread within that thread caught my eye; about how the movie First Blood has a strong undercurrent - the titular hero had been trained to kill, and was exceedingly good at it, and he could simply no longer fit into normal civilian life, becoming a vagrant, until his mind snaps after an encounter with small-town bastard cops and his lethal training comes back to the surface.

And that’s true…..that’s all there in First Blood. But it gets buried in all the action.

And he is killed like the proverbial rabid dog in the book but that was not a Hollywood acceptable ending.
