I must be missing something. Is there something wrong with calling it an “extreme” position to reject the authority of the federal government? Are we supposed to be anarchists now?

I think it’s a mistake to apply the term “extreme”, because extreme ideas are entirely allowed. What you need to go after are those who will use violence against the government and the citizens of America.
