I read it. My original point stands. You can attempt to legislate morality. But inevitably it will fail. Laws against murder don’t stop all murders. Laws against drugs don’t stop drug use. Laws against sexual acts don’t stop those acts from being performed.

Well, it depends on the goal of the legislation. It sure doesn’t seem like we legislate to prevent in this country but legislate, instead, to punish. So I’m not sure folks even expect a law to stop behavior, they just want a way to punish you. Penance model.
