The GOP and their gerrymandered districts will allow them to remain relevant coupled with the fact that Democratic voters rarely show-up during midterm elections. Now if Dems were as dedicated to voting like the Repubs are, the GOP could be easily marginalized in a decade.

If Democratic candidates staked out strong positions for a few things and then stayed with them then Democratic voters might be more motivated to turn out. Though the Republicans may be appalling, you do know what they stand for. With some Dems, it seems that the only things they stand for are “not a Republican,” and “elect me.”
