My guess (and my advice if I were advising Sen. Alexander), is that they are going to softball Dr. Fauci, set him up as the “good guy” ,try to ignore Trump where at all possible, then save their REAL scathing for the Committee Democrats - their real targets - for going after said “good guy” and “politicizing a pandemic”.

I don’t see the committee Democrats attacking Dr. Fauci unless something really horrible is released by him, like he admits to strangling a kitten. Democrats have been generally supportive of his statements at Trump’s rallies briefings.

I’m not sure how this will go down.
