And insurers and ERs will try to divert a case like yours from the ER because that’s the most expensive place to get care - other than say certain specialized units (oncology, neonatal, ICU, etc.)

They’d seek to have you get your initial care at an urgent care facility, rather than an ER.

That’s why so many hospitals are opening urgent care centers themselves, so that they can leave the ER to actual critical cases.
