No, I think life terms make sense, because you don’t want the court to swing with the whims of the day.

The problem is, quite simply, the Senate and the Electoral College. They’re remnants of our past as semi-independent former colonies, and of slavery.

So, we expand the Court, and we grant PR and DC statehood. Also, maybe expand the House. None of these requires more than the House, Senate, and WH. I hope we learned out lesson in 2010? Consolidate power FIRST. The other side will do just that when they have the chance, and the only way to restore American democracy is for them to lose the whip hand.

Eliminating the EC would require a constitutional amendment, but there’s nothing there about how it is constituted (pun not intended). I think. IANAL. Removing the “senatorial contingent” and basing each state’s numbers on the number of house members they have would go a long way toward removing the imbalance of the EC.
