I want to ask a question to clarify things. It’s a comparison of the Steele dossier vs. Trump and Co’s asking Russia for dirt on Hillary. Ignore the middle men (which is easy in Trump’s case). Is there a difference between the getting the information? What I’m really trying to find out is when someone says “Yeah, well, Hillary went and got information about Trump” I’m not completely stumped.

Russia stole the dirt on Hillary. Stealing private information is a crime — it’s what Nixon’s plumbers were doing. We don’t know yet that the Trump campaign participated in the crime while it was happening (although there are some indications). But in any event, Trump made himself an accessory after the fact by obstructing the investigation — in the same way that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s friends, by throwing away his backpack, made themselves part of the Marathon bombings.

There’s no indication that Steele, or any of the middle men, did anything illegal.
