It never ceases to get me to pause, to realize how little we know of the generation before us.

For instance, I don’t know how my parents met, and I didn’t ask my mother before she passed away. I know before they met they had ended up in the same town (for different reasons), but that’s it. And now there is no one around who would know this thing, even my one remaining aunt who is a paternal aunt and was probably not privy to this information given the difference in age between her and my father.
