It is possible Trump’s got a pardon out there for Manafort…. but there’s also the possibility that doing so would unleash not just citizen direct action, but state prosecutors and the feds would be able to go after Manafort and everyone else in Trumpworld, and there’s no 5A protection on self-incrimination so there’s the possibility of compelled testimony (and further opportunities for Manafort to perjure himself) about his actions and those of Trumpworld that engage in criminal acts all along.

There was a time that I used to believe that such a blatant abuse of the pardon power to protect cronies would be the last straw for Congressional Republicans. But since so many seem to be on board with the stupidity of the faux national emergency, I’m not even sure that would do it.
