The tacit assumption in most of the coverage is that the attack on Logan was the work of those celebrating the fall of Mubarak. But that doesn’t make sense. Every other attack on reporters came from the pro-M side. It was Mubarak and his claque that were claiming that reporters were meddling in Egyptian affairs and that ordinary Egyptians loved M.

You don’t celebrate a win by raping those who just helped you win and are now helping you broadcast your victory party.

As to the cause being that Logan was PC-blind, that’s cruel. Logan had to have known that she was risking everything. So were all the reporters. They covered the story anyway because unless the risk is prohibitive, that’s what reporters do. They report.

She, and the rest of them and their crews, deserve a salute.

Well said on all points.

People who do this kind of reporting are not naive. They know the risks, and they take them.
