As much as I want to slam Trump for that, it seems that the problem is the Kashrut authorities playing favorites and ignoring the kosher certifications of other organizations around the world. If you don’t get a stamp from the Israeli authorities to import the food or beverage as kosher, it isn’t permitted, no matter who certified it elsewhere.

So, if a US manufacturer got an OU for their food product, unless they get a certification from the Israeli authorities, they can’t sell it in Israel as kosher.

And that opens the door to graft and corruption too.
