The fact that President Obama has said this instead of signaling a wait-and-see tells me that he and the Pentagon see that the attempted coup is as stone-cold dead as its plotters and prime movers will soon be.

Erdogan and his loyalists are going to have a high time with reprisals for quite a bit, then I see him tightening the screws on secularism even more.

As long as he is out of the country and the Turkish AF and army is doing whatever they want…I don’t see a real path for him to do much at all unless loyalist units can be rallied. My guess is that they have already been neutralized to some degree if this coup had support in the general staff.
