We have so many different kinds of really cool rocks here in Appalachia. I would never ever tell someone “that’s a rock”. Especially if it looks like a potato and it’s actually a geode.
We lived near the Franklin mine in New Jersey. We told the kids’ teacher from the DoDDS school in Korea, and she arranged a week-long visit after our return. The tailings are full of exotic fluorescent stone., open to collectors.
