If you read the sequels to Hitchhikers, Arthur and Ford are trapped on an old planet, and Arthur gets the idea that, since he’s part of the computer known as earth, that maybe his brain has the answer and he could come up with it by drawing out scrabble letters randomly. When he does this, it spells “What do you get when you multiply six by nine”.

BTW, 6*9 = 42 in base 13.

I never understood base 13 or base 8. Failed those questions in math class consistently.
