Consult with a lawyer first thing. And one who has SOME experience with politics; the average family lawyer can’t do it.

That means gathering recommendations from trusted associates (that MIGHT mean your family lawyer if you have one; if you don’t, add time. If your family lawyer doesn’t know anybody, add time).

Contact and set up appointment with said lawyer. Check budget and see if you can afford said lawyer.

At the meeting, go over strategy, close off areas of possible problems or liability. Spend time crafting a statement that minimizes exposure.

Remember. This person is an amateur, almost certainly not experienced in publicity. All these steps are sensible and takes time to execute.

He absolutely has to talk to the school district, preferably this afternoon. You can imagine that the school has already gotten calls. Anything he says at this point can mean his job. Best to say nothing at all. Period.
