You know, if it comes out that Obama approved an operational plan to get the pirates to agree to be towed and then to get them within 30 meters of the ship, I would give him full marks for ordering a slow but orderly rescue plan.

But that hasn’t been established yet.

I think he called up the Navy and said “go ahead and figure out some way to use some guns or whatever, if you think the captain is in danger.” I’m willing to give him credit for doing that — given his track record, it wouldn’t have been surprising to see him apologize to the pirates for all the bad stuff Bush did, and offer them a few million dollars and a set of DVDs in compensation.
