I do think a lot of these views though come from only being exposed to views that reenforce your biases. I have to say, I do come from a liberal family and no doubt that has influenced my political views and biases but I always did try to keep intellectually honest and my Dad even though he’s a huge liberal loved to play devil’s advocate as did his Dad when my Dad was my age. I had an untold amount of liberal professors who while they personally held views close to my own did try to keep me intellectually honest. Thus, my quite liberal American history professor was fine with papers I wrote that offered some praise for Andrew Jackson, Alexander Hamilton, and Andrew Carnegie. I could never get away with that if I wrote that for a more conservative professor involving poeple like say FDR or Eugene V. Debs.
