I remember my grandmother cherishing her Christmas card from the Clintons. She was a proud Democrat till the end.

My grandmother seemed entirely pleased to get the card from the Obamas. She was a Republican, but not deranged. Getting a note from the president was the cool thing for her.

After she died, and everyone was divvying up her stuff, my more wingnutty cousin said she might want both proclamations. She was already grabbing everything she could and she gave the impression she was going to junk the Obamas’ note, so I put my foot down and said I did all the legwork to get ‘em, and I paid for the frames, so they were going home with me.
