I think the word “hypocrisy” is being used incorrectly, IMO. Hypocrisy is “do what I say, not what I do.” One can be an environmentalist and seek to improve the sustainability of our resource management and still partake of those resources necessarily without being a hypocrite. We live in a society that gives us few choices, for example, on where and how we get our energy and how we obtain food. We can make personal choices as wisely and informatively as possible but unless we just lie down and die, we must use needed resources to survive.

Granted, but what Obdi is saying that when someone attacks another for spending X amount of resources on something that person enjoys, but doesn’t need, then turns around and spends X amount of resources on something they enjoy but don’t need, it’s hypocritical.
