Is that use of fear of terrorists for political reasons different from the Democrats use of fear of evil Bush for political reasons? Democratic fear mongering helped Obama get elected, but I don’t see how it’s going to protect American lives. Quite the contrary.

Nope, no difference what so ever. Some of the crap dished by the left was over the top. i.e. GW went to war over oil. He may have poorly served by his advisers and got bad intelligence, but he did what he thought right to protect the country.
