Oh yes. I was debating that study about a year ago on another site. It severely misrepresents the facts, and uses data two decades old. For example it used a local program that was available for only six months and conflated it into a year long, nationwide program.

Surprisingly enough the person who introduced the report for debate, using it as ‘proof’ that the poor lead a luxurious life and are lazy, backed off when it was demonstrated what bullshit it was.

What that Cato “study” did was add up the total benefits from ALL programs and then use that as “a typical welfare subsidy” even though no one qualifies for every single program that exists.
