That has been a factor in a lot of the tepid support from the media and “serious” Republicans for Trump, the assumption that he won’t make it through his first year in office before being impeached and his VP taking the White House. They’re not voting for Trump, they’re voting for Pence.

Regardless, Trump would soon tire of the nuts and bolts of actually governing and compromising and simply head off on extended jaunts to visit his favorite tin-horn dictator buddies and leave Pence to run the show.
