If you wish comprehend the audio nerd mind, check out the aptly named “Audio Asylum”

Just took a look - first thing I find:

I bought a new pair of Audioquest Type 4 speaker cables. I find they’re very crisp and detailed but the bass has been reduced substantially from the Monser’s. The soundstaging has improved as to placement of instruments and the ambiance of different acoustic venues is more pronounced. I’m a little concerned about the bass response. It is tight but just not as sbstantial as before leaving the sound a little bright or dry. I’m not sure if it’s because the Monsters were actually heavier in the bass or if the Audioquests are just flatter response.

These cables are new out of the box with silver bananas. I am breaking them in and wonder if anyone has experience with the break in period, if the cables bottom end will loosen up a bit after being played, or any advice on a break in period. Thanks to all in advance for your insights.

Apart from the fact that it has been established many times in double-blind tests that cables make no difference at all to the sound (assuming they aren’t simply bust), I’m baffled as to how anyone could be daft enough to think that a wire needs a run-in time to…become a better wire, or something. Woo is clearly alive and well in the audiophile world.
