That’s what I expect to happen.

Puerto Rico is away from the mainland, which would make it safer. In addition, it is closer to the equator, making it less costly to launch things into space there.

Hopefully, when it becomes a state, we get into a real discussion about putting Space Centers in.

That’s a good point, especially being closer to the equator. I have to admit, in my darker moods, I’d be quite happy to let the South go independent. Well, after they’ve paid back the trillions they’ve received while a part of the USA - and they’d not be allowed to militarize, either. Nothing more dangerous than small arms. All US military bases/naval facilities/nuclear installations will be closed and demolished at their expense. And a host of other things. Most of them deeply unpleasant.
