True, although we’d probably consider the living conditions of the relatively affluent at that time to be fairly squalid. It’s especially worth noting that any time you too antibiotics in your life is a time when, before antibiotics, you might have died. Also a lot of deaths in childhood were due to diseases which have been nearly eradicated by vaccination.
