I only can’t believe there aren’t more of them given the demonization of Islam by the Anti-Christian right wing in America. There’s hundreds of years of romanticism of the Crusades at work here too but the reality is kind of ironic. Much like America with too many pretend religious gunhumpers, so too did Europe of 1090 CE have too many almost religious warriors killing each other and civilians so the pope, Urban II, thinking he could get rid of them and help Byzantium against the Turks, tried to point them at an external enemy instead. The historical results should horrify anyone (see the fall of Jerusalem in 1099) but we have too many romances about the crusades instead.
