Either we seal the border hermetically and patrol it aggressively or we leave it open a various checkpoint and create an enormous bureaucracy to register and track immigrants.

Both variants are expensive and mean a lot more government, which nobody seems to watn at this time.

The other option is to just wreck the economy to the point that immigrants have no more incentive to seek work here…

I like weird solutions. We can’t control everything from Brownsville to San Diego, but it’s a lot easier to patrol the Panama Canal. How ‘bout a little friendly Manifest Destiny?
