At some point, I’m really starting to think it’s impossible to wrest the country back from the GOP. It’s like playing fucking Cassandra, where you’re constantly treated as wrong simply because you’re you, and any attempt to convince anyone outside of the choir simply makes you and everything you stand for more and more wrong, and when shit DOES go wrong, you’re to blame because…you’re you. And everyone fucking hates you.

It’s just…Christ. I know it’s defeatist, but fuck’s sake, I feel like the country wants me, us, everyone who thinks or looks like us to just fucking die, and nothing will ever convince them otherwise. And they’ll win. Because they always fucking win. The country fucking LOVES them no matter what they do, no matter how temporary the lull in adoration is. This really is just their fucking country top to bottom, and no matter how hard we fight, we’ll always lose because this is their country, and we’re the reason it’s not ‘great’.

God, I know this feeling will pass, but it keeps coming back, and I just want to curl up and cry because of how futile everything feels.

What you describe as ‘the country’ is, in my mind, a tiny minority of the country. They are reacting like they discovered their majorityhood, but they didn’t. They won one with help from their fellow jerks from across the world. We will outlive that tiny victory.
