hell at this point, I’m thinking that its money… following the money… namely loans guaranteed by Russian mobsters, laundering drug and sex money for golf course and real estate and then converting that back to clean cash with low low low interest rates (or non-existent ones cloaked as finders or financial fees). Trump ges out of debt, the Russians get the money “cleaned” and in the end, they get politics and policies that give them even more of a free hand.

Then they play the GOP in the same game, deep dark money for campaigns in order to treat minorities like shit, fuck up the US rebound from the financial crisis, gut off the head of the serpent most likely to challenge them in foreign policy while the GOP gets to make rich people richer, like they’ve always wanted. They get to restore the gilded age of hookers and blow and get to make women objects again, so they can get laid by doing things like promising them jobs or healthcare, you know… the good old days…

and there are still just enough haters and bigots out there to get the job done, the media has always given them a pass and turning the NYT loose on Clinton allowed them to try and get that major scalp that they’ve always lusted for after the Post brought down Nixon. Politics had a veneer of ethics and morals then, nowadays, I think finding a GOP legislator who has that is a reach, sure you can maybe find a few, but reading the twitter feeds of the many, sure makes you think that its purely the party of spite these days.
