Now that I am home:

8.1 oxgang = 1 hide = about 120 acres or 1 family/year of land or 1 pound sterling in production. Humorously, to me anyway, the hide as a unit of measure stopped being used by the 13th century under the Norman kings. The Oxgang didn’t get used until the 16th - I’ll have to find out what was used for the intermediate centuries.

I won’t bore you with the fiscal responsibilities of the landowner, knights fee & the use of the mark in accounting :)
