Charles, a question-suggestion - would it be possible to tweak the quoting function so that the texts of the tweets are quoted?

Unfortunately, not really - embedded tweets are inside an IFRAME that’s served from Twitter directly. While it’s possible to read the contents of that IFRAME, the HTML structure inside it is undocumented and Twitter tweaks and changes it frequently. So, although it’s possible to put together a hack to read the text, it probably wouldn’t be long before it stopped working because Twitter changed the structure again.
