Yeah Trump makes Buchanan look competent. Hard to do.

Buchanan actually had extensive and real government experience before his election: served in the House, the Senate, Ambassador to Russia, and Secretary of State. He wasn’t handed the most powerful nation on earth, a country living in peace, with a growing economy and stock market, and no external existential crises. If he were handed Trump’s cards, he probably would have been a successful President.
