Hot oil smell suggests a few things, the primary one being that oil is getting on hot parts and burning. Suggests the leak may be near the top of the engine and dripping down. At least that’s where I’d start.

After the money you’ve put into the vehicle, hope it’s nothing serious. Sounds like it’s more of an inconvenience right now. My experience has been Toyotas will go hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal repair. Put over 350,000 on my last one and it still ran great.

I love this car and will keep it going until it’s really financially not-feasible at all. It drives amazingly responsive. It is my baby.

I’m going to cry the day I have to replace it.

(Yes it’s still my first car.)
