Truth is not cynical - it also relates that the shooter was non-white.

That it happened could also be related to the victim being from Australia where you assume (correctly) that the police are not going to shoot you when you call for help.

There is that too. Man what an awful story. I hope I didn’t come off unsympathetic to the victim because believe me I am extremely sad for her family.
