So I dropped a block of text about the NRA in the last thread.

And after that article, I stand by it: they’ll never agree to any “reasonable” measure, or even to scrutinize the problem, because they have embraced “cannot be wrong, can only be wronged” standard when it comes to lethal force.

If they do it, it will be justified, even heroic. Whoever they shoot will have deserved it. And anybody skeptical of that proposition is a threat.

The NRA and most US gun nuts are very clearly on a path of ever-increasing radicalization. It is inevitable that getting the NFA of 1934 overturned by SCOTUS will openly become part of their agenda in due course. If/when they are significantly thwarted in their exercises of power, their violence will increase.

Even now, I think they basically view the Las Vegas shooter as some kind of hero. They pretend they want to be law abiding, but assert a constitutional right to have such an arsenal and to extensively fantasize about using it when “the shit hits the fan” without any concern for the fact that large scale indulgence in such malignant role-playing will lead to real-life incidents.
