It’s cultural too in my part of the cultural gene pool. People are loyal to an absolute fault. Someone can be the worst person in the world but if he’s Cousin Bubba on your mama’s side, he’s part of the family as much as everyone else. And spouses are worse. I watched my own mother stay with a horrible man out of that loyalty, she had no financial reason to stay, she was the one working.

These people have adopted Trump. He’s family. They won’t budge.

I mean it sucks because I think loyalty can be a terrific thing but it can be done so wrong. Trump doesn’t deserve their loyalty. He doesn’t care about rural America. Rural America has never been on his mind ever yet it’s the part of the country that feels the most attracted to him and his brand. I have to admit this shocked me. I correctly did predict that Christie wouldn’t do well in the GOP primaries but I thought it was because Christie was too urban for the suburban increasingly rural base. I’ll observe once again that the people who knew Trump the most- Manhattanites in specific rejected him teh most soundly and the people who knew him the least- rural residents in the midwest and south embraced him the most.
