$12/hr at 40 hours a week for a year is $24,960. That’s $2080 per month BEFORE TAXES. After taxes, you’re looking at about $1600 per month, before your employee contribution to health insurance. A one bedroom apartment in most of the greater Los Angeles area is going to be right around your entire take home pay. If you’re lucky, you might find something in the $1200-1400 range.
