The operating system version is the key here. Older operating systems are unable to update their certificates to record that LetsEncrypt renewed theirs. The issue is that the version of MacOS that is incompatible with the new LetsEncrypt certificate is new enough that many people appear to still be using it.

An even larger issue is that Apple aggressively grandfathers their older machines. I’d happily upgrade to the latest Mac OS but my Mac Pro is too old. It still runs great, and this was not a cheap box.

There are hack solutions that would let me use a more recent Mac OS, which tells me that Apple could continue to support their older hardware, they just choose not to bother with it. Which sucks.
