Modernity has been overwhelming to many. The changes that have occurred in the last 100 years have been significant. They really do call into question the patriarchal religion that for almost 1700 years has been dominant in the West.

Forget the last 100 years. The last 15-20 years have been a complete shift and some people simply cannot adapt.

Everything has literally changed from the way things were. Communications, technology, jobs, educational requirements, etc. The people fighting it the hardest are the ones who cannot accept that change.
