German woman, survived two world wars, lost most of her family in the second one to the Holocaust. My dad was a drinker, just got out of the Navy, went to college and met my mother. He got drunk and missed his train to get to my mom’s house. He had to call my mom and get my oma to drive across New York and pick him up in the snow. I think she was a little angry.
