Actually, that attitude typifies many of the problems I see among Republicans (and some Democrats). Sort of “if it isn’t recent it doesn’t matter.” Vaccines: polio, smallpox, and the Big Flu of 1918 (not to mention a handful thereafter.) Economics: the Great Depression is old news. Unions: oh, nobody forces company towns and days worth of unpaid hours any more.
Weird how the conservatives want to go back to all that.
Because they keep telling themselves “It’ll never get that bad again.” Meanwhile, the jobs that aren’t being outsourced or to illegals are being stripped of any benefits whatsoever and there are presently efforts to undo most labor laws in the name of “job creation.” Decades of progress made through blood, sweat, and tears being washed away in an era of unbridled greed.
