Ugh, my FB feed is exploding this morning over the Duck Dynasty thing. It’s a knock down drag out between conservatives who love the show and more center/liberal types who support A&E’s move.

I would like to make a couple of points about this.

1. A&E is NOT the U.S. Government. There is NO FREE SPEECH issue here whatsoever. Robertson is free to say whatever he wants, A&E is under no obligation to give him a permanent platform for those comments.

2. This is NOT “Christian persecution”. Robertson is not being arrested, tortured or otherwise being prohibited from following his religious beliefs.

3. I’m not sure I’d call what Robertson did “preaching”, since in my opinion Preaching is intended to bring people TO God, not drive them away.

Let’s be honest about this. All this butthurt is because someone got some blowback and criticism (and arguably of minimal impact) due to a homophobic rant made in an interview. If anything I half suspect all this was done on purpose since it generates hype and attention for the program and the yelling pundits get to wrap themselves in the flag and wave their Bibles as they defend America.
