Portman is going to get his ass kicked next time.

I’ve never seen an Ohio senator have so many protests held against him ever. He was bombarded by emails, calls and letters. If you drove past the Federal building downtown, there was always a group of protesters out front. He had the big physical removal of protesters where the one woman was dumped out of her wheelchair and that left a bad PR mark upside his head. Even the Columbus Police took a black eye from that.

The Democrats just need a decent youngish candidate that is well spoken and they can use this healthcare mess against him. He is going to have a real tough time putting any positive spin on this.

Portman was just elected, so he’s not up again until 2022. Lot of time between now and then for tempers to cool and minds to change (which was, of course, the basic idea of the Senate from the beginning).

I was listening to MSNBC while driving a couple days ago and someone there reported that nobody in the Senate (including pages) is afraid of Trump. I think the question now, for the GOP, is if they want to continue down the same path they’ve been on with McConnell in leadership, or if they are interested in changing course. It’s also worth noting that McConnell is 75 and up for reelection in 2020, makes me wonder if he’s in his last hurrah as well.
