re: #280 Killgore Trout

He’s not but the secession and revolution talk also comes from right wing politicians and governors. They’ve completely lost their minds. The left was never this crazy under Bush. I’m sorry but the right has gone way past what the left was up to under Bush. Way past, not even close anymore.

There was plenty of secession and revolution rhetoric from the left. I don’t know how many of those damn Red State/Blue State maps with the Red States labeled as “Jesusland” throughout the Bush administration. It was also perfectly acceptable within the media and popular culture to relentlessly make fun of the president. Every single day. He was booed throwing out the first pitch in the baseball season. They made movies about assassinating him. There were at least 2 if not more comedy shows on Comedy central of which their entire plot was making fun of the president. One of these shows was on the air during his first year as president. He was heckled at some of the SOTU speeches by Democrat congress members. It goes on and on.

The biggest differences between BDS and ODS, is that there was not a element of racism in BDS (except maybe for Kanye) and revolution rhetoric was not coming from democrat governors and congressmen, just their “kooks” in the blogosphere.

BDS was still greater than ODS. That makes neither of them right and any attempt to say “mommy they did it first” is asinine. I had to put up with that shit from a knee-jerk Republican friend today. “Wilson is hero!” to which I reply “oh FFS… so you pulling for the Steelers?”
