There’s a GIF I use frequently at work of a poor benighted soldier who tries to toss a grenade (not a live frag, maybe a flashbang or something similar), and winds up bouncing it off a tree and back into his own foxhole. He manages to scramble out of the foxhole and avoid damage, at least.

In Arma 3 play grenade screw-ups are common enough that some of the players refuse to carry explosive ones and just carry smoke grenades. There is a method for a more controlled toss, but it’s a different key combo and usually takes longer than using a certain key for a quick toss.*

The group’s training mission does include an area for training with grenades. It’s recommended to use training or smoke grenades there. But there are also some protective sandbags and “sumps” below some windows in order to prevent accidents. Plus there is a box full of first aid gear there as well.

* - The default command in the game is just pressing “g”. Our group recommends (and almost requires) that it be changed to “2xg” (pressing “g” twice rapidly). And since most of the keys are used in the game it is pretty easy to mishit a key and potentially frag your fireteam.
