Yup. The Ines dooms were apparently focused on establishing the monetary pecking order for the zillion shades of worth, much of it translated into different levels of fines for crossing each other.

Kinda like the word shame. WE think of it as being a very negative emotion —yet IIRC it originally meant “to look at oneself”.

Like doom, we are conditioned to assume the worst of ourselves.
