Well, they did have almost 250 years of peace during the Tokugawa military rule….

I mean, this is the same culture that gave us samurai. I don’t disagree that they are capable of peace, with or without the language in the constitution, but I think it’s silly to freak out about a country exploring the removal of pacifist language from the constitution that was imposed on them while they’re within clear missile range of a country ruled by an unstable dictator and the primary ally who is supposed to come to their defense is currently governed by a narcissist in chief.

Did we freak out a lot when Germany rebuilt their military too?
